La Savina is Formentera’s small but bustling port.
Apart from La Savina, other main towns and villages include: San Francisco Javier, San Fernando, Es Pujols, Es calò, Ca Marì and El Pilar de la Mola.
Apart from being Formentera’s port, La Savina is also the ideal place for hiring boats, cars, scooters and bicycles.
The best information on the island can also be found at the tourist offices in La Savina.
San Francisco Javier is the main town on the island with its old town centre and fortified church where various events and local fiestas take place. All the institutions are located here (town hall, chamber of commerce, police station and hospital), as well as essential businesses (supermarkets, chemists, banks, restaurants, bars and newsagents). It is particularly busy in the morning for breakfast, and has souvenir stands lining the promenade
San Fernando is the second largest town on the island and has a vibrant night life. Not to be missed is La Fonda Pepe, the meeting place for local hippies.
Es Pujols is the most touristic town and is the only one which is located right by the sea. With its beautiful seafront and equipped beach, restaurants, cafés, bars and clubs, Es Pujols is without doubt the place where you will have the most fun.
Es Calò is a small fishing village where you can savour the sea in a maritime environment. The beach is relatively small. We recommend visiting the surrounding areas and nearby restaurants, which are among the best on the island.
Ca Marì is a small village whose population reaches its peak during the summer period. It overlooks the magnificent beach of Mitjorn.
El Pilar de la Mola is without doubt the most characteristic place in Formentera and is where most of the hippy community live. During the tourist season, a craft market is held every Sunday afternoon; all products sold there are guaranteed to be authentic.
