Formentera offers over 20 km of white sandy beaches and crystal-clear water with an astonishing array of blue tones. On the island, you can visit its characteristic solitary coves and fairytale beaches, enjoying peace and tranquillity in a natural environment untouched by mass tourism.
If there is something that sets Formentera apart from other Mediterranean destinations, it is its beautiful coastline which remains largely undeveloped. Sustainable development has been the focus for decades, which means today you can enjoy its heavenly beaches: the beaches of Illetas situated in the north, Mitjorn in the south, Cala Sahona in the west, Es Calò in the north-west and Es Pujols-llevante in the east, are particularly worth mentioning.
The beaches of Illetas, situated at the northern tip of the island nearest to Espalmador (just 150m away), are the most visited by tourists. The area can be reached by any vehicle, but it is better to walk or cycle there since you can really enjoy the landscape in this way and also help to protect the environment against the constant stream of visitors. The Illetas area is one of the most complete in terms of leisure: water sports, sailing school, scuba diving school, restaurants, stalls, deck chairs and sunshades - practically everything you will ever need to enjoy a full day at the seaside.
The beach of Mitjorn is one of the largest on the island. Its size and location make this beach one of the least busy and most peaceful on the island. This does not mean, however, that there are no leisure facilities on the beach: water sports, sailing school, scuba diving school, restaurants, stalls, desk chairs and sunshades are available.
Cala Saona: Despite its small size (140mm long), this beach is one of the most beautiful that you can visit and it naturally does not fall short in terms of facilities with water sports, restaurants, stalls, deck chairs and sunshades.
Es Calò: It may be small, but this beach is equipped with all essential amenities: restaurants, stands, deck chairs and sunshades.
Es Pujols: Magnificent beach situated in the tourist area of Es Pujols where you will find all sorts of amenities: accommodation, shopping, restaurants, stalls, leisure boating, water sports, sailing school, deck chairs and sunshades. It is separated from the residential area by a pedestrian promenade where hippy souvenir stalls are put up in the evening. A quiet beach ideal for families to enjoy. There is also a ramp and chair adapted for disabled people that want to go in the water.
Llevant: Situated in the north, it is a very large beach and one of the most visited by tourists. Here you will find all essential leisure facilities: water sports, sailing school, restaurant, stalls, deck chairs and sunshades.
